Wild Cards

Hey Polly and Team,

Apologies for the late response.

We had a wonderful holiday, thanks very much for all the assistance with it. We very much appreciate all your effort.JustHoneymoonsClientFeedbackSanushaStatue of Liberty

The flight was long hey, but we were expecting that. Thankfully, Emirates is comfortable. I have lots of dietary restrictions that can cause a significant amount of discomfort, so that fact that we ordered GFML meals beforehand really helped me out. I was able to bear through even the longest flight of 16 hours.

Hotel transfers were good, and quite convenient. Much less stressful to have it pre-booked with a shuttle service, especially after a long trip.
Inter-state flights was the only area whereby we were caught off-guard as we didn’t know there was a $25-per-item baggage fee, for checked luggage. With the exchange rate what it is now, that one bit us.

Accommodation was good, we especially liked Holiday Inn. Hotel Figueroa in Downtown LA wasn’t too bad, except that there are lots of youngsters around having pool parties and drinking. On our first night, some of them were very drunk and caused quite a commotion near our room. Lots of fighting, people getting kicked out, and a lady crying uncontrollably the entire night.

In terms of sight-seeing, we did loads  We went to almost every tourist spot we could think off, and it was safe enough to walk around.

In Los Angeles
• Universal studios was the best theme park to visit, loads of fun and we spent the entire day there. We also did other theme parks like WB Studios and Paramount Studios.
• We did the Walk of Fame, and Chinese Theatre
• We spent a day at the beach, went to Venice beach first, and did the walk across to Santa Monica Pier, which was lovely.
• We spent some time in and around Hollywood as well – Hollywood Hills, the Hollywood sign, Beverly Hills, Madame Tussauds, Rodeo Drive, etc.

In Washington
• We went to all the Smithsonian museums, which was amazing.
• We saw the White House, Washington Monument, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln MemorialJustHoneymoonsClientFeedbackSanushaVeniceBeach
• We also went to Arlington Cemetery to pay our respects
• And eventually went to the National Archives to see the original Declaration of Independences and Bill of Rights

In New York
• We did Times Square and Grand Central Station, and spent a day at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
• We spent another day at Central Park, which was pretty amazing
• We also paid our respects at Ground Zero, and then ended our trip with a live Basketball game at Madison Square Garden
• The highlight of the trip though, was one morning in New York, where we met Bruce Willis 

I have attached some photos. But I have loads more on Facebook, if you want to take a look.

Regards,
Sanusha

On a recent business trip from England to Western Cape I decided to take the opportunity to cross something off my “Bucket list” namely a visit to the 1879 Zulu War battlefields at Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.

I contacted Webtours who took care of every aspect of the trip. I was met at King Shaka Airport, Durban and driven the 300 Kilometres to Fugitives’ Drift Lodge, a 5000 acre game reserve in close proximity to both battlefields. As we drove from the reserve entrance toward the Lodge we saw Giraffe, Zebra, Impala and Blesbok. The welcome at Fugitives Lodge was very cordial and after checking in I was shown to my bungalow in the grounds. The accommodation is all in semi-detached bungalows comprising a large bedroom with sofa, writing desk, en-suite bathroom and verandah – mine with a view over the Buffalo River Gorge to the mountain at Isandlwana. My early morning wake up calls were courtesy of a monkey thumping up and down on the verandah roof! Breakfast and dinner were served each day in a large colonial style lounge/dining room with wonderful pictures and memorabilia of the Zulu War; lunch was on the balcony of the Library- another very impressive room with many books relating to the war and the region. The food and drinks were all of excellent quality and my fellow guests and I had nothing but praise for the catering. Special mention should be made of Grace, our waitress, who has a wonderful singing voice and entertained us with renditions of traditional Zulu songs.

A number of tours can be arranged, each with a very knowledgeable guide. I did the battlefield at Isandlwana one morning, that same afternoon I walked to the graves of Lts Coghill and Melvill (who attempted to save their regimental colours) which are situated on the game reserve. The next morning I went to Blood River where in 1838 the Voortrekkers repulsed a large army of Zulus and on the way back viewed the memorial to Napoleon, the French Prince Imperial, who was killed in a skirmish with the Zulus in 1979. In the afternoon it was a memorable visit to Rorke’s Drift where eleven VCs were won.

The whole trip was a wonderful experience with nothing too much trouble for Andrew Rattray and his staff all of whom went above and beyond to ensure it was a memorable event. All too soon the car arrived at the Lodge to take me back to King Shaka Airport for the homeward flight to London. I have wonderful memories of the hospitality, the tours and the staff at Fugitives’ Drift Lodge and would heartily recommend the experience to anyone.

Dear Ed

I hope that you are well

Apologies for taking so long to get back to you! I actually almost forgot!

Regarding our honeymoon that you and the Webtours team organized:

We cannot thank you (Edwina) and the Webtours team for organizing the most incredible honeymoon for us in June 2012. We had an amazing time in Europe and particularly on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Every detail that you had taken care of – from flights to hotels to transfers – was well-arranged and we had no hassles whatsoever. We'd recommend WEBTOURS any day! We've attached some picture so that you see what a great time we had.

Thanks again, and sending our best wishes,

Michal and Jonathan Kay

Hi Desire

Just to say “thank you” for all that you have done for us to make Brian and Lisa’s honeymoon a great one! I am also sooooo glad you offered and we did the travel insurance – Lisa ended up being in hospital yesterday with drips for rehydration due to food/water poisoning. What a mission it would have been had we not done the insurance, but we are ever so grateful that your advices were followed!

Again “thanks” for the great service!
